If you’re like most people, your home is a chaotic mess. Clothes are strewn everywhere, books are crammed on the shelves and corners, and empty cereal boxes and chip bags litter the floor.
But if you have a specific system for organizing your home, you’re not alone. In fact, many people swear by certain methods of organizing their homes.
How to Get Your Home Organized and Clean?
Here are my five ways to keep a house organized that may surprise you:
01. Use bins to store everything.
This is probably the most common method of organizing homes. I store items in designated bins, it becomes much easier to find what I am looking for. Not only is this efficient, but it also makes it easy to clean up when I’ve finished using any item.
02. I always store things in an order that makes sense to me.
Experts always prefer to store things in an order that makes sense to them. This could mean organizing things by category (e.g. clothes, books, furniture), or by how often I use the item (e.g. the kitchen is sorted by dishware, cups and plates, silverware).
03. Creating themed rooms.
If you have kids or a pet, it can be helpful to create themed rooms in your home to help them stay organized. It is one of the strategies I liked so much. This could include a room for toys, a room for books, and a room for video games.
04. Using dividers to organize items.
This is another common and helpful method of organizing homes. By using dividers, I create separate areas for different types of items (e.g. clothes, dishes, toys). This can help me easily find what I am looking for, and it also makes it easier to clean up.
05. Store items in baskets or storage containers.
If you don’t want to use dividers or baskets, you can store items in storage containers. This is a great way to organize items if you have a lot of them, or if you don’t have a lot of space to store them.
How I organize my kitchen cabinets:
01. I organize my cabinets by type of food.
This is the simplest way to organize your cabinets, and it’s also the most effective. I organize my cabinets by type of food, which means that I put all of the food containers in one section, and all of the utensils in another section. This makes it easy for me to find what I’m looking for, and it also makes it easy to clean up.
02. I also organize my cabinet by how often I use it.
If I’m going to be using a certain item in my kitchen, I will put it in a specific cabinet. For example, if I’m going to cook breakfast, I will put all of the cooking utensils in one cabinet, and all of the pots and pans in another cabinet. This way, I know where everything is, and it’s easy for me to get started cooking.
03. I also organize my cabinet by what type of dish I’m going to make.
If I’m going to make a dish that uses a lot of utensils, I will put those utensils in a specific cabinet. For example, if I’m going to make spaghetti sauce, I will put all of the utensils needed to make spaghetti sauce in one particular cabinet.
04. Lastly, I organize my cabinet by what season it is.
If it’s summertime, I will put all of the pots and pans needed for cooking in one particular cabinet. If it’s wintertime, I will put all of the pots and pans needed for making soup in another particular cabinet. This way, it’s easy for me to find what I’m looking for, and it isn’t overwhelming because there are so many different types of items organized in specific categories.
How I organize my desk:
01. I organize my desk by what type of work I’m going to do.
If I’m going to be working on a project that requires a lot of writing, I will put all of my writing supplies in one particular place. If I’m going to be working on a project that requires a lot of math, I will put all of my math supplies in another particular cabinet.
02. Lastly, I organize my desk by what type of mood I’m in.
If I’m feeling stressed out and need to focus, I’ll put all of the items that are distracting me away from my work in one particular cabinet. If I’m feeling motivated and ready to take on the world, I’ll put all of the items that will help me be productive away from my work in another particular place.
No matter what type of person you are, there is likely a way that you organize your home to suit your individual needs. By understanding how you organize your home, you can better cope with any challenges that may arise.
